The Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity Partnership Blog

The Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity Partnership is a collaborative effort between the alumni and friends of the Indiana Gamma Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi and Wabash College.

The last significant renovation to the Phi Psi house occurred in the late 1960s with the addition of the study room wing.  The Fraternity Partnership program offers the opportunity for Phi Psi to join together with the other fraternity houses on the Wabash campus to make them competitive with residential living units at colleges across the country.

The Phi Kappa Psi renovation is a $2.8 million project and will include enhancements such as:

Conversion of the existing three-man study wing rooms into two man rooms, dramatically expanding space per man.

Elimination of the third floor cold dormitory and conversion of the cold dorm into sleep/study suites which have a different layout than those in the study wing.

Conversion of the existing chapter room into a smaller cold dormitory space.

Modification of the house library to serve as the new chapter room for conducting undergraduate business.

Expansion and improvement of kitchen facilities to improve the utility and appeal to students and parents.

Opening up of the Regnier Great Hall space by converting the wall that divides the Great Hall front room and the dining hall into decorative support pillars.

Addition of fire sprinkling and HVAC improvements to enhance safety and air quality.

Construction of a more attractive façade to improve the aesthetic appeal of the chapter house.

These changes, among others, were planned in a joint effort by undergraduates, alumni, parents, admissions representatives, and College administration, and thus incorporate the many perspectives critical to designing a chapter house that works better, both now and for the next 30 years.

CSO Schenkel Shultz is the project architect and Brandt Construction is the general contractor. Work is scheduled to run from March 21, 2006-December 15, 2006. During the fall semester of 2006 the undergraduate brothers will live in the old FIJI house.

The Indiana Gamma Chapter is one of more than 90 chapters of the Phi Kappa Psi National Fraternity.  Indiana Gamma has over 1,200 initiates since its original chartering in 1870.
