Campus Living Part 1 - Fraternity Rush
One of my duties on campus is to advise the 10 national fraternities on campus. I attend meetings to discuss various issues dealing with fraternity houses. One reason why Honor Scholarship Weekend is an exciting time to visit is that it officially kicks off the fraternity rush process.
Today I spoke with Josh Owens '07, President of the Inter fraternity Council, and he wanted me to share some information about the rush process at Wabash College. Fraternity Rush officially starts during Honor Scholarship Weekend.
So what is fraternity rush? Simply defined, it is your chance to take a look at the Greek Life here at Wabash College. Rush allows you to learn what fraternities do and what they are all about. If you are even slightly interested or curious, take the time to explore all of the different Greek houses on campus. Just because you participate in rush, does NOT mean you will have to join a fraternity.
The rush process will kick off on the evening of March 17th. You are encouraged to visit each house and learn more about the chapter by talking with the members or enjoying the various scheduled activities ranging from movies, Texas Hold'em, basketball tourneys, March Madness on the big screen, etc. It's a great way to meet new people in a relaxed atmosphere.
Later on this week, I will post some things to know about rush and some important questions to ask the fraternity members. I will also talk with the President of the Independent Men's Association about living as an Independent either on campus, in a dorm, or in off campus housing.

Josh also wanted me to list some guidelines that all of the Greek Houses will follow.
1. All Rush Activities will be non-alcoholic
2. Fraternity Bids cannot offered until 8:00 PM on Friday
3. Fraternities can continue to rush after this weekend and continue until Freshman Orientation
