Ice cream in 5 minutes

Chip Timmons - Jim Amidon and Howard Hewitt have done a wonderful job covering Honor Scholarship Weekend.  I thought I'd provide a peek at what Saturday had to offer.

First, I'd like to thank all of the Wabash men who lent us a hand this weekend.  Our office has our hands full hosting so many students on this campus and we rely heavily on our student staff to pull everything together. Our students step in a number of ways.  From airport runs and hosting to shuttling supplies to and from exams, Wabash men help make the weekend a success.

After today's exams, our guests had lunch in Chadwick Court.  Following lunch, prospective students had opportunities to attend academic interest sessions and meet with members of our faculty. I sat in on the Biology and Chemistry sessions and made the rounds to a few others.

Professors Scott Feller and Lon Porter in the Chemistry Department treated their guests to homemade ice cream.  Ice cream they made in about 5 minutes.  It's easy if you have the know-how, proper ingredients, and liquid nitrogen.  See how it's done.

I shared with a few other department chairs what the chemists were up to and they accused them of "dirty rush".  Jim Brown in Physics told his students they could head downstairs in Goodrich and make something radioactive, but doubted it would taste as good as ice cream.

With the exams behind them, students have an opportunity to relax and check out more of the social life at Wabash.  The baseball, tennis, and track teams are in action this afternoon and the living units have more in store for tonight.

I'm going back for seconds on the ice cream.
