Decision Time
Chip Timmons - The National Candidate reply date of May 1 is less than three weeks away. In the Admissions Office, we see it as our mission to make sure each student that considers Wabash College makes an informed decision. To that end, we host campus visit days, send emails and literature, make calls, involve alumni volunteers, and sometimes we "take our show on the road" to provide prospective students and their families with information and the answers to their questions.
On Sunday, Walter Blake hosted a reception at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Indianapolis to provide students and families with an opportunity to meet face-to-face with Wabash alumni, staff, and current students one final time before May 1. Thanks to all of the alumni and current students who made time to join us on Sunday and we're already seeing positive results from Sunday's event. I snapped a few pictures to share with you.
Rudy Cope and John C. Schroeder '69 teamed up to host a similar event last night at Wolf's BBQ in Evansville and my camera and I were there to take more pictures. Again, Wabash alumni and students turned out to lend a hand, but the volunteers who made the trip from campus deserve special recognition. Kudos to Clint Gasaway '87, Doug Berry '06, Andy Deig '08, Patrick Drake '06, Mark Scheuer '09, and Mark Turpin '09.
With the switch to Daylight Savings Time, we are now one hour ahead of Evansville. A 6:30 p.m. start time for dinner in Evansville meant a 1:00 a.m. arrival time in Crawfordsville!
But, it was worth it. Our guests had a great time, the BBQ was as good as I remember it, and the coconut cream pie was fantastic. This entry will be the last where I play the role of admissions blogger/food critic. Well, for while anyway, and I'm sorry to see it end.
Be sure to check back for more news on the Class of 2010 and those of you who have deposited and received your official Class of 2010 shirts, don't forget to send in your photos.
