A Good Neighbor

Mike Reidy - The Wabash Avenue Citgo, a combination gas station, laundromat, and convenience store is located about two blocks from campus.  It is the closest gas station to campus and a frequent destination for Wabash students, faculty, and staff.

About two weeks ago, the manager, Sandy Fields, asked me what she could for the students to celebrate the end of the academic year.  I suggested free fountain drinks on the last day of class.  Sandy liked the idea and threw in a discount of 5 cents a gallon on gas.  Sandy felt that might help "ease the pain" students face as they fill their tanks for the trip home.

Few things are fonder to Wabash men than free food and saving money, so on April 28, several of us made our way to the Wabash Avenue Citgo.  Sandy reported that business was booming on Friday as there was a steady stream of Wabash men coming through the door all day long.  At one point, all 8 gas pumps were in use and most of the cars has Wabash stickers in their windows.

Sandy and her co-workers are already thinking about what to for the guys when they return August.
