Academic Support Services

Chip Timmons -Wednesday's update session featured Julia Rosenberg, Director of Academic Support Services.  Julia oversees the activities of the Quantitative Skills Center and the Writing Center as well as assisting students with disabilities and conducting workshop on study skills, time management, note taking, etc.

Julia's office is located in the armory and the Writing Center makes its home there as well. The Q.S.C. provides tutoring in biology, chemistry, physics, math, and economics and tutors meet with student in the buildings housing those departments. For example, biology and chemistry tutors meet in Hays Hall.

All tutors are faculty recommended and while some institutions have peer tutoring, Wabash only offers peer tutoring.  The benefits of this arrangement include a comfort level for students, a level of understanding from a students' perspective, knowledge of current classroom work and campus culture.

Once classes begin, the Q.S.C. will be open Sunday through Thursday evenings and the Writing Center is open during the day Monday through Friday plus Wednesday evenings.  If you're making plans to visit campus this fall and would like to learn more about the work of Julia and her team of tutors, include that request when you register for your visit.
