Opening Day

Betsy Knott - For the New York Stock Exchange, it’s the opening bell. For NASCAR, it’s a green flag. For the admissions office, it’s a back-to-school reception.  Recruiting season has begun!

On August 13, the Wabash College Admissions office hosted a reception at the Munster Center for Performing and Visual Arts.  The CPVA was already a bustle of activity before our group showed up.  Over 70 people attended the event, including rising seniors, parents, members of the Class of 2010 and their families to discover the difference Wabash College can make in a young man’s life. We have a few photos to share.

We think one of the most effective ways for anyone to learn about Wabash is through the stories we tell.  Several members from the Wabash community attended and spoke to the crowd about the impact Wabash has made in their lives. The highlight of the program was Coach Robert H. Johnson, the track and cross country coach for over 30 years.   Coach Johnson explained that responsibility and Wabash College go hand in hand, teaching the young men in the room (and getting them to repeat after him) the most important two-letter words in the English language, and a philosophy that rings true on our campus: “If it is to be, it is up to me.

If you’re interested in attending other Wabash receptions to tell your story, please check out the Admissions website for upcoming events.
