Mixing Business With Pleasure

Chip Timmons - Despite some weather-related travel delays, our guests made to campus on Saturday afternoon ready to get down to business.  The "business" is their college search and how Wabash will fit into that picture.  We want students visiting this weekend to experience all aspects of Wabash first-hand, even the winter weather.  I saw some our guests from South Texas tossing snowballs at each on the way to registration.

After some welcoming remarks from Dean of Admissions Steve Klein and President Pat White, Walter Blake walked everyone through the weekend's agenda and prepped them for the first item on the agenda, fun.

After dinner at Sparks Center (it was hot wings night - a big hit), we loaded up two, fifteen-passenger vans, one mini-van, and one SUV and headed to Crawfordsville Entertainment Center for an evening for bowling and laser-tag.

Bowling can be a humbling experience for me, er some, but everyone had a good time.  Our primary objective was to get students acquainted with one another in a more relaxed setting, until the laser tag starts.  It's much more fun to hunt down a friend on the laser tag course than it is to stalk a total stranger.

On Sunday, we got back to business with lunch in Knowling Fieldhouse and an alumni panel in Baxter 101.  Read Howard Hewitt's story on those events.

Tomorrow is Top Twenty with over 250 guests expected on campus.  Not much rest this time of year, but that's the business we're in. it's business, but it's a pleasure work with so many talented young men.
