Breaking My Own Rules
Chip Timmons -I'm in Arizona this week meeting with all of our admitted students to help make the case for Wabash and review their financial aid awards. My schedule allowed me some time to make a few high schools visits to meet with juniors and get a early start for next year. I put over 700 miles on my rental car and traveled to Prescott, Phoenix, Tucson, and back to Phoenix over the course of three days enjoying the magnificent scenery found in this state.
When I started this blog last year, I put together a few rules and guidelines for myself and other contributors. Rule #1 - Always take pictures. Well, that's an easy one to follow unless you forget to charge the battery for your camera. I made a stop on my way back from Prescott to stretch my legs a bit and snap a few pictures of an area called "Bloody Basin" only discover that my camera was out of juice and the charger was left behind in Crawfordsville. So, I'm left with only the pictures in my mind and the feeling that we're on way to wrapping up successful recruiting year in Arizona.
I was again reminded this week that it sometimes seems that Wabash is everywhere. While standing in line at the Hertz counter on Monday, the woman in front of me took a look at my shirt and asked "Wabash? I read about your school in the New York Times. You're one of the few men's colleges in the country, right?" It turns out that this woman is a teacher at Bryant High School in Omaha, NE. Put that school on the list!
