Lilly Day Two, Indy Reception, and More.

Chip Timmons - The final day of the Lilly competition went off without a hitch. I had the privilege of observing one of the group discussion and still marvel at how well these students performed in this setting.  I'll say no more lest I give future Lilly applicants more information about what the future holds for them in 2008.

On Sunday, four current students, Clint Gasaway, and I drove over to Indianapolis for a reception hosted by Walter Blake.  This reception brought admitted students and their families together with Wabash alumni, staff, and current students to help answer any lingering questions students may have at this stage in the college search process.

From what I gathered, Wabash tops the list of most, if not all, of the students in attendance. All of these young men and their families would make wonderful additions to the Wabash community.

A random thought occurred to me on the way home from Indy.  College students have something in common with babies.

I have two young sons (Landon, 3 and Drake, 7 months) and as soon as you put my boys in a car after a meal, they're asleep.  Same goes for college students. After stopping for dinner in Avon, three of the four we're asleep within 5 minutes.  I'm sure we could come up with other similarities, but this one hits close to home.

Each time I've traveled students to an event this year, I'm usually the only one that's awake by the time we return to campus.  Good thing too since I'm driving the van.
