Perfect Attendance

Chip Timmons - On Wednesday evening, I attended my first awards night program of the year.  I typically attend two or three of these and alumni volunteers help cover other in my recruiting territory.  Alumni cover several of these events and last year, over 60 awards night programs were covered by alumni. Yet, I'm not writing to praise our volunteers, but there's a plug.

Back to the story...I'm on the stage at Noblesville High School with literally dozens of presenters sweating under the lights awaiting our turn at the podium.  At every program I've attended over the years, the perfect attendance awards command little attention, but not at this year's Noblesville High School program.

After the awards for 2 years of perfect attendance, 3 years, 4 years, and so on, I noticed the presenters still have a few plaques to deliver.  He then recognized a student for 6 years of perfect attendance, 9 years, 11 years, but he has one final plaque to present.  Are you kidding me? There's a student who had perfect attendance for 12 years?!  Sure enough, a young woman's name was read, she proudly approached the stage, with a wave of applause and whistles in her wake.

I shared this story with a colleague of mine.  They suggested taking a DNA sample from this student and creating a serum to inoculate students prior to enrolling in kindergarten.  Whatever she did to remain so healthy, I'm sure parents everywhere would like to know her secret.
