A Busy Week Looms
Chip Timmons - It's the eve of my busiest week of the travel season and Monday can't get here soon enough. I don't have to cover the same amount of territory as I did in my earlier years with the Admissions Office, but I still get fired up about full week of high school visits.
Starting tomorrow, I will visit twenty four high schools, dine with three prospective students, meet with two alumni, and attend one high school football game. All of this activity will take place over the next five days throughout the state of Florida, which isn't a bad place to spend a week in October... even if you're battling a cold.
I return home on Saturday afternoon just in time to attend our reception in Indianapolis, but I'm not the only member of our staff with a busy week on the horizon. Eight of our counselors and two members of the Financial Aid Office hit the road. Most will stay close to home, but others will venture to San Antonio and New York. It's that time of year.
It's also the time of year for fall visit programs and we just completed the third of five class visit days. We have two more scheduled for November 2 and 30 and there's plenty of time to register for those events. Interested students can read more about those visit programs at www.wabash.edu/admissions.
Our biggest visit program of the fall is the Top Ten Visit Day scheduled for Friday, November 9. Seniors ranking in the top ten percent of the class are eligible to participate in this event which awards attendees a scholarship worth $50,000 to $60,000 over four years. The Top Ten registration deadline is November 1, so if you're planning to attend, make sure you register this week.
See you on the road.
