Countdown to Honor Scholarship Weekend
Chip Timmons - It's hard to believe that it's almost that time of year, but Honor Scholarship Weekend is just five weeks away (March 14-15). This year marks the 115th year of this unique scholarship competition and it's by far the most important visit program of the year.
Around the office, we have a saying. "As Honors goes, so goes the year". So far, it looks like we're going to have a great year. By my rough calculations, we have currently have 93 registrants compared to 38 on this same date one year ago.
While we've done our part in Admissions (and have much more to do), our current students and alumni do a fantastic job of promoting Honor Scholarship Weekend. During my interviews with students visiting our campus, Honor Scholarship Weekend is always mentioned, but the high school students are the first to mention it. Their first introduction seems to come from the tour guides, current students they meet in class or at lunch, or the alumni who referred them to Wabash in the first place.
While the awards and the activities have changed tremendously over the past 114 years, the emphasis on this weekend has not. If you're seriously considering Wabash College, you don't want to miss Honor Scholarship Weekend.
To those of you promoting Honor Scholarship Weekend, keep up the good work!
To those high school seniors considering Wabash, it's time to register because time is running out...literally. See the Honor Scholarship Countdown on the right side of the page at www.wabash.edu/admissions.
