Young Guns

Chip Timmons - Over the years, we developed a nice feeder system in south Texas a.k.a. "the valley".  Today, some of the students Wabash recruited some 10-11 years ago have returned home and now lead our alumni volunteer efforts (with a little help from some midwest transplants).

In late December, admissions counselor Collin Lanam teamed up with Val Benoit '04, Jeff Espino '03, Adan Garcia '04, Artie Montes '04, and Oscar Torres '01 to host a reception for prospective students from local high schools including the schools where Val, Jeff, and Oscar teach and coach.  In addition to the reception, all of these alumni refer students to the College.

Those midwest transplants I mentioned earlier are Zach Foughty '07, David Wagner '05, and Joe Warfel '04.  All three came to the area with Teach for America and have jumped in to help this group by referring some of their students.

Several students visited campus earlier this month and more plan to take part in Honor Scholarship Weekend in two weeks.

Speaking of Honor Scholarship Weekend, we're looking for alumni to join us for the Honor Scholarship Banquet on Friday, March 14.  Spouses and significant others are welcome to attend. The banquet will be held in Chadwick Court at 6 PM.  To rsvp, email me at timmonsc@wabash.edu
