What a weekend!

After having a tiresome week, this weekend has been one to remember. On Thursday was yet another Chapel Talk. This time Associate Dean of Students Warner talked more on the Gentleman’s Rule. After the hour Chapel Talk outside on the Mall was an event named The Melvin fundraiser to help Melvin a Wabash employee who is currently fighting cancer. The event was great because while the event had a good cause my pledge brothers and I got the chance to interact with staff and facility who also participated in the event.  The highlight of my Friday besides it being Friday and the start of the weekend was the fact that I had a quiz in my German 101 class postponed till Monday which gave me more time to study. In addition to that Friday night my pledge brothers and I celebrated one of my other pledge brothers (John Jurkash’s) birthday. That night also consisted of a ride to Wendy’s, Taco Bell, and Wal-Mart for various reasons.

Saturday has been the day I have been waiting for. I woke up, had a large breakfast, and went to the stadium to help set up the area for Beta Theta Pi members and pledges. While I was there I had the always joyous opportunity to meet the parents of my pledge brothers and brothers in the house. I was quite surprised when the mother of an Offensive Linemen (Kyle Grand) mentioned to me that she reads my blogs. The food provided by the Sphinx Club at the tailgating during half time was great although interrupted by rain. During the half time was when my fraternity pledge brothers and I received our pledge t-shirts which had a ‘Miami Vice’ theme. The final score of the game (if you haven’t already heard) was an amazing 49-7 with Wabash in the affirmative. After the game I went back to the Beta Theta Pi house and was greeted by an alumnus who talked with me for a while about all things Wabash and a few events happening during the fall in Montgomery County. Later on that evening Beta Theta Pi hosted the TGIF party where all the pledges were security. Although the party for me was not any particular fun I did get a chance to hang out with my pledge brothers and talk to girls from Purdue.

On Sunday was more of a relaxed day. After waking up and getting ready I ventured over to the library to get a few school assignments squared away. After around 3 was a Track and Cross Country team Kickball and Dodgeball tournament. Although my team lost 5-0 in the Kickball game we came back to win 7-5 in the Dodgeball game even though Coach Busch tried to stipulate the last round was winner takes all as his team was down. Sometime I will never forget was Coach Morgan throwing the ball and having it smacking me dead on the side of my head. (I am going to get you back for that!) That evening was more studying with my continuing pursuits of trying to get ahead in class. Next week hopefully will be as jam-packed as my weekend.
