What a Weekend.

This weekend was a tough one in my eyes. On Friday I tried to do the whole giving back thing and donate blood. Unfortunately since I traveled to Nigeria during the summer on vacation I was unable to give blood not only on Friday but for a whole nother year, which was a bummer. The next day was a much better in the sense that I actually went somewhere for the first time in about 3 weeks. I went to Purdue University for the first time because the Wabash College Parliamentary Debate team had a competition against 45 other schools. I wanted to go and get more experience in the inner workings of parliamentary debate for I do take Political Debate 143 and in this class we are covering the subject of the parliamentary debate. While I was there I witnessed what happens on a campus of over thirty thousand students.

Sunday out of my entire weekend seems to be the worst of all. On Sunday I attended with about 18 of my other pledge brothers the Intramural Canoe race at Sugar Creek in the wind and rain. The canoe race was five miles of unenjoyable torture that seemed like it would never end. My partner (William Powers) never let me give up with made me feel that’s what pledge brothers are for. What also added to my frustration was the fact that I had and still have a pile of school work to finish. Now that the weekend is over and the week has begun I now feel like I am getting into a grove in terms of my schedule which is also a good thing.

Something I thought was interesting on the Wabash campus is the fact that on my way walking to class the Squirrels here have no fear. Sometimes I get the feeling like they really are not afraid of humans and enjoy watching me walk by instead of running away. So far in fraternity life I have been doing my best in interview every brother in the house for them to get to know me vise-versa. So far I believe I have the most interviews completed at 16 but I still have a long way to go with about 40.
