Busy Start to the Week
This week so far has been busier than ever. On Monday, it was class as usual then track practice. After practice I had to rush back to the Beta house and change for a Health Care Professionals Networking Dinner in Detchon Hall. I not only met a Beta who is now an anesthesiologist in Indianapolis, but I also met two alumni from the Lilly Pharmaceutical Company who were very interested in me and gave me their business cards. Tuesday was even busier than Monday because I am getting more involved in clubs on campus. After a short track practice, I headed over to Center Hall where we had our first Philosophy Club meeting of the year. There were not many of us at the meeting, partly because it was scheduled around dinner time. Although there were few of us, professors Hughes and Helman came out to help us brain storm for some great activities we could get involved in. After that meeting I headed over to the library for my second Student Senate meeting. This was a very
heated meeting because we had to approve the budget for all the clubs and organizations on campus. In this tight economy, every club received some sort of cut or did not get the full amount requested. That night it began to snow, and it did not stop snowing. Before I went to bed, I was lounging around talking to my pledge-brothers when one of them (Brian Shelbourne) decided to push me outside in the snow with just my slippers and socks on my feet. The reason for him doing this will remain unknown, but all I know is he was just about the only one who found that funny.[Editorial note: this was in fact funny] The next day one of my pledge-brothers (Daniel Ambrosio) said he has never seen this much snow before. I can believe that statement seeing that he is from Arizona, but for me it just felt like home trucking through the snow on my way to class. Because Wabash is such a small campus I doubted if any of my classes were canceled, and I was right. I feel especially bad for the new additions to the Sphinx Club because of the air raids they do in the snow. Tonight I went to the call out for the MXI (Malcolm X Institute Club). Although I already knew many of the guys in the club already, it was still good to understand what the clubs stand for and their future outlook.
