Sometimes You Might Forget What Day it is...but Not On the Weekend!

This weekend has been great all around. On Friday night, I attended the “Chill Out” event put on by the Career Center. At this event was even a Chili cooking competition. Although some of the Chili looked somewhat questionable, the chili donated by Wendy’s looked and tasted appetizing.

There were many fun games to play even the fan favorites, Euchre and Corn Hole, which I will never understand.

Saturday was a big day for Wabash athletics. Saturday morning Wabash held a Wrestling match and a Track meet under the same roof. At the track meet I did pretty well, although as usual I wished my times were a little faster. Together my teammates and I received first place for the 4x200 meter relay, and third in the 4x400 meter relay. I placed 1st in my heat for the 400 meter.

Here is a Public Affairs photo album from the meet.

While at the track meet I was proud to see a few of my pledge-brothers come out and support me. Another one of my pledge-brothers, Donavan White, ran in the mile and placed 5th. Later that night, I went to the basketball game against Denison University. During the game every time Wabash was able to make a free-throw, some lady on the opposing side started yelling in a high pitched voice, which (speaking for everyone else) was very annoying. While sitting in the student section I could see the Wabash sprit in everyone chanting “Who are we, WABASH”!

Sunday was a boring day to say the least. I woke up, did laundry, did school work, talked about the night before with my pledge-brothers, and watched a movie with my good friend and track teammate, Mike. Next week is packed with meetings and good fun: can’t wait!

 Brandan Alford
Sarcasm (to say the least) is one way to describe this pledge-brother of mine. Brandan has a repertoire  of witty sarcastic punch lines, jokes, sayings, everything that he can unleash on anyone.  Although this can become annoying at times, it is worth noting that he is very good with the timing and delivery of his wittiness. I wonder if Brandan will ever be a stand-up comedian?  Brandan is currently on the Wabash College Baseball team and was an athlete during his high school days at William Henry Harrison High School in West Lafayette. A future aspiring journalist, Brandan works on the student run newspaper hear at Wabash called the Bachelor. What is funny is that he even reads over and edits my blog before I put them up…so I won’t look bad if I made a mistake.

Hey, Andre — Great to see you perform live and in person at Saturday's indoor track meet. Good luck to you and your teammates as the season progresses. You have a lot of talent — individually and collectively. Congrats on a great run in the 4x200!
