Weekend of Travels

All I can say about this past weekend is that it was very exciting.  On Friday night I began packing for what turned out to be a long journey back to Wabash. Saturday morning my family and I headed off to the airport. Once at the airport and through security I found out my flight was delayed for forty minutes.  The Continental Airlines check in people asked all the passengers to check in again to make sure if your connecting flight would be on-time. Thankfully my flight from Cleveland to Indianapolis was as scheduled. Unfortunately a kid heading back to Notre Dame for college was stuck, with his flight canceled. I’ve never noticed how many students leave the state of Rhode Island to go to college. In the airport I saw many other college students sporting their school sweaters. Times like those make me proud to be a Wabash man. The Weather in Providence, RI was peachy but Cleveland, OH was awful. The snow was coming down pretty hard and my connecting plane needed to be de-iced which is never a good sign. Thankfully I got to Indianapolis only an hour late to be greeted by my always chipper pledge-brother Donavan White.  I stayed with Donavan at his house Saturday night and all Sunday watching movies from the Hulk to Hit Man. Monday we finally headed back to Wabash.

Brian Shelbourne

Brian saved my life, or at least my leg. In earlier blogs I talked about how I dislocated my leg. Brian’s  (better known as Shelbourne or Shel) father just so happens to be a knee surgeon in Indianapolis. He called his father and in a matter of minutes my leg was back to normal. Brian takes pride in his sarcastic humor and many times I am unable to tell if he is joking or serious.  There have been a few times when I have been in heated arguments with him and he would then end the argument by mentioning that he wasn’t serious about the whole thing, making me feel like an idiot. Brian went to Cathedral High School with two of my other pledge-brother, one of them I have talked about in previous blogs (Bill Powers).  Brian also plays for the basketball team here at Wabash and from how I’ve seen him play, it is safe to say he has great potential.
