What happened to April Fools Day?
I only five more weeks to go, yet I am still so unbelievably busy. On Monday morning I woke up around 6 AM to register for classes. What was interesting was that even though my last name was at the top of the list to register for classes I still didn’t get two of the classes I
wanted. What I thought was most interesting was how I didn’t get into a Philosophy class that I didn’t see would be a problem getting into. I really think we need to rework the class registration system here at Wabash. That afternoon, I as the news editor of Beta, organized a picture of all the seniors to be taken for the newsletter that will be coming out soon. Later that night I (and every other freshman) had a liberal arts test with the enticement that in a few weeks 50 dollars will come my way. After that the Beta house had a visitor curiosity of our risk manager. After the talk about doing the right thing we had chapter which was brief considering it was almost 11PM and everyone still had homework to finish. Tuesday in my African American Rhetoric class we had our usual discussion on black studies in the media particularly film. I decided to write my twelve page paper on the movie Soul Plane and how it perpetuates white supremacy. (Now if I can only get past the introduction). Tuesday night I had my Student Senate meeting that lasted way longer that it should have had, partly because we voted on what senior should receive an award during the Student Chapel award ceremony. Wednesday, being the hump day, was also April fools day. I remember in high school when my friends would play jokes and pranks but I don’t really see that anymore in college. The only joke that was played on me was an email that was sent out saying all classes were canceled. Needless to say on Wednesday everyone showed up to class which got me thinking either no one reads their emails or everyone took it as a joke. Sometime this week I need to go to the business and get qualified to drive the school minivans, because if I’m going to be working at the school all summer in the Admissions office, being able to drive a school van might come in handy.
