Well, What Do Ya Know...
The end of my week has been the week of the New Englander. As odd as that sounds it is true. On Thursday after my one class I went to the library to get a head start on my weekend work. After printing out my work I decided to head back to the Beta house. Right 
when I walked out of the library I saw and greeted Ethan Rowe! Now if you have been diligently reading my blogs you would have noticed that Ethan Rowe is the only alumni I have ever met from RI. Before I came out to Wabash for freshman Saturday, we had lunch and talked about what I can expect during my freshman year. I was surprised to see him walking around campus, but turns out he was here for a teacher’s recruitment event. That night I spent my time studying for my Philosophy of logic test. At the Beta house we have a long tradition of performing reverse trick-or-treating. This entails that the pledges go around to every room and give the brothers candy! The point is that if you this during your freshman pledge-ship, then you might have three more years of receiving candy through our tradition. On Friday right before my logic text I saw a student decked out in all Boston Red Sox gear. I asked him where is he from and he told me he was from Boston. I was immediately surprised because I honestly thought I was the only student from New England. The few minutes we had before the test we talked about how we got to know about Wabash in New England. I think it is very funny how Wabash is a bigger place than you might think.
I do not mean to complain but it just seems like it is one of those weeks were the work does not stop, and it seems like everything is due at once! Monday in C&T, I was given a paper that was due the next Monday which was about 4-6 pages. In my Logic class I received news of a test on Friday. On top of that there is always the homework, readings, club meetings, fraternity meetings, track practices and everything else. I find it interesting I am finding less and less time to relax during the school week since I am so bogged down 
while trying to get ready I discovered my Rick James costume was not complete! I couldn’t find a good enough shirt to go with the extremely tight jeans I had. So I decided to make a quick costume change and become the character Tyrone Biggums from the Chappelle Show. What was funny is that I had all the cloths in my closet to complete the homeless, street bum look. After I was done with my costume I went around to see everyone else’s, and I was surprised on how creative everyone was. Some of my pledge brothers were geeks, convicts, and cartoon characters. After the party the night ended with me hanging out in an upperclassman’s room eating pizza. 
I went to AMPD where our guess speaker talked about the Jesuit beliefs which were interesting. Friday is finally here. At noon when classes ended I went to the bank to take out some money for the weekend, talked to my dad on the phone, and played (my new favorite) Café World on facebook for a while. One of my pledge-brothers (Jeremy Coons) contracted Swine Flu (H1N1). So he instead of getting the entire house sick he stayed in his room and called if he needed anything. I was nice enough to make him a sandwich for lunch and bring it to his room. Around 5PM a good friend (Alan Tom) and I drove down to Indiana University in Bloomington to get away from Crawfordsville. I was basically overjoyed because I’ve been to IU twice but only for track meets and I haven’t gotten a chance to see the campus. .jpg)
Tuesday in Classical Rhetoric we talked about Enthymeme. I made the point that in humor Enthymeme can be misunderstood because it leaves too much up to the audience member to interpret. This for some strange reason was translated as “Andre, has no sense of humor”, which doesn’t surprise because we then watched the Daily Show which wasn’t all that funny. This week in track we have it off, so I have been working on my hand-eye coordination by playing racket ball. Let’s just say I am really bad at racket ball. That evening after my Student Senate meeting I came back to the Beta house. The house looked as if there was a strobe light party going on inside but to my “amazement” someone managed to bang up against the fire alarm, triggering it. Good thing it wasn’t too cold outside because we were out there for a while. 
tours to 2 baseball players, and 1 tennis player. After the tours I changed into more casual attire. Then it was time for the much awaited football game against Wittenberg. I was amazed on how good Witt was. I thought the game was going to go into overtime scoreless. Unfortunately we had our first conference loss in 3 years by 3 points. The QB in the game, Josh Miracle who is a current junior in the Beta house, did very well. After the game I went to Lafayette to have dinner at the original Arnies Pizzeria with the church family. To my (and everyone else’s surprise) Purdue University beat Ohio State in football, so the traffic in West Lafayette was amazing with so many happy Boilermaker fans! The pizza was so good and was a little better than the Arnies in Crawfordsville. Back at school I spent the rest of the night hanging out, not doing much, and did a little reading. Sunday morning began as it usually does with me doing laundry, doing a little reading, going to church. This week after church was a little different because Josh’s girlfriend needed to catch her flight back to school. Josh had football practice so I volunteered to drive her to the airport in Indy. I was a little skeptical at first being an out-of-towner but I knew I remember the way and got her to the airport on time. When I got back I finished my laundry, and spent the rest of the night on school work. I found it very nice to see the house fill back up again, seems like fall break left this house completely vacant. Now starts the countdown to Thanksgiving Break! 
England fall. I checked in with a few friends from back at home and what do you know, it’s snowing already in New England. THANKFULLY, it has not started here! Later that night, I watched the movie Dumb & Dumber, with a few friends. I never knew that that movie was set in Providence, RI. Everyone thought it was funny that they made Rhode Island jokes, but I didn’t laugh! I ended up going to bed early only because I was scheduled to go out with my church family the next morning bright and early. As scheduled I woke up early and went with the Chalmers to the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival! The festival was interesting because there were those little knickknacks you know you could never live without. In addition to those little knickknacks there was also a plethora of food! Although I am not opposed to lots of food, I am opposed to deep fried everything! I was surprised on how many things were fried then served as “delicious treats”.
sister, Lindsey, bought FIRED CHEESE! (YUCK!) I had a fried tenderloin which…wasn’t so bad either. After getting back to Wabash I took time to relax a little more then went to the (a completely empty) Allen Center to work off that tenderloin. I spent the rest of the night making a trip to Wal-Mart and Taco-Bell. 
weekly fraternity meetings. Just so happens that a lot more happened over the weekend than I thought. On Tuesday I thought I would get up early and do some running but I just…couldn’t get out of bed. Also, on Tuesday I had my Rhetoric class. Professor Timmerman during this class session reminded everyone that there was a 5 page paper due the next day. From the sounds of the other students in the class I could tell most people haven’t started on it yet. Tuesday night after the student senate meeting, one of my pledge-brothers (Jonathan Horn) decided to give me a noogie on the first floor. Let us just say I ended up with a very large rug burn on my right elbow. 
noticed the first time I looked through the book. Besides that the only other thing I have to complain about is my room. For the past week my room has been amazingly HOT! There is one thermostat on the second floor where my room is and I complained to have it turned down but come to find out has been down to 50! So basically it feels like 85 in a room that is supposed to be 50! Oh well, hopefully I can get use to it since it is getting colder outside. Friday night John’s girlfriend (Laura) came to stay for the weekend. On Saturday morning Laura and I walked over to the tailgate where we met up with many of my pledge-brothers parents and John’s dad, uncle, and cousin who is a Wabash alumnus! The football game was pretty good because the first quarter was scoreless and it looked like Washington University was better than we expected. We ended up winning the game as expected. That night I went to Pastor Terry’s house because his daughter Holly was having a birthday get-together. 
The party was pretty cool and I got to hang out and have really good food. When I got back to Wabash I hung out and roomed around since John and Laura were watching a movie in the room and I didn’t want to be that guy (if you know what I mean).
particle joke. On Friday that same roommate of mine, had his bed taken from our room and put outside. He also had all of his clothes in his closet taken to a disclosed location in the house and had his pillow put in the freezer. I would like to mention that all of this was done by someone other than myself. I refuse to retaliate on stupid games. 
my resume, applied for summer internships, and then worked out for 2 hours. After working out I got the good news that I HAVE A CAR FOR NEXT YEAR! I’ll explain more later when I have the details. That night as a bonding experience between us and the freshman pledges in our house we had a Beta dodge ball game in the Allen Center. 
Holm around 1AM about who in our room is the most cleanest. I would just like to say for the record that I am the most cleanest and if you don’t believe me, come check out our room! Wednesday’s class wasn’t so bad. We had a substitute in C&T, so class discussion did not go… as it usually does.

up early to take a Political Science test (which I think I rocked but I don’t want to count my chickens). After the test, I rocked discussion in C&T, and had a pretty good Computer Science class. So basically I am having a pretty awesome day up until this point. Then I got to Philosophy of Logic when I received the news that Chicago will not host the 2016 Olympics. My opinion is the Olympics are over rated anyway, and the World Championships in any sport are what matters. Rio De Janerio looks like a nice place, hopefully they can fulfill their goals in time for the Olympics, and hopefully the president’s trip to Copenhagen doesn’t compromise his global image. After Philosophy I had time to sit down with a few freshmen and get to know them better. I couldn’t spend too much time talking because I had a ton of errands to run and still had to work out. I went to the bookstore to buy my grandpa a new Wabash College sweater, went to the post office to mail it off, went to Wal-Mart to buy pink party stuff for a Brest Cancer walk tomorrow, and then off to the Allen Center to work out. Hopefully this weekend I can relax and not focus on the amazing amount of work that is to come next week (hopefully). 
is only one candle in the room it is safe to say that I was talking about that one candle. John Holm corrected me by saying, I meant to say I am going to light “the” candle. I said it didn’t matter because both a and the are singular and there is only ONE candle in the room. Even though he persisted, we all know I was right (hahaha). That Monday John also received the Hammer for the most hits during the last football game. Tuesday was yet another chilly day and windy. The student senate meeting went quickly especially the passing of the weekly budget which usually takes fairly long.
