A Great Wabash Day

Maybe some people may think that a tie is not much of an event, but there are plenty of things to celebrate after our game vs. DePauw last night.

First, we hadn't had a positive outcome against DePauw since 1999, and going to their place, play the way we did and come back with a shoot out is an important step for our lads

Second, the tie keeps our record above .500, which happens to be the season goal for the program (last year, at this time, we were 2 - 5 with four consecutive losses).

Third, the intensity and maturity, as well as soccer skills, displayed by our very, very young team is a testimony to its dedication, hard work, and commitment. We may have some ups and down because of inexperience and eagerness to prove something, but the bottom line is that we are competitive and it showed.

Fourth, our lads know what it means to represent Wabash with honor, pride, and dignity. They feel they can make their school very proud of their effort (they always have) but also of their results. Winning is not what we are all about, but being winners is.

Fifth, the tremendous display of support we had last night, paired with an outstanding show of positive sportsmanship by our student body (especially against DePauw!) was something that we all should be extremely proud off and motivated to foster in the future.

Hearing "Wabash Always Fight' during the few moments DePauw seemed to have an upper hand or "Bash,Bash,Bash" or "WAF, WAF, WAF" etc. without hearing anything toward DePauw's fans and players alike was an invigorating support for all of us.

At the end, the singing of "Old Wabash" brought everyone together in what it really felt like a great Wabash day.

Another opportunity for Wabash to shine and become the special place we all love.

Thank you Wabash! And WAF!
