Monon Bell

Monon Bell tickets are on sale now.  This year's big game is on November 14th at DePauw.  Hope to see you there!  If you can't make the game in person, there are Monon Bell telecast parties going on throughout the country.  Feel free to drop a line to the college at alumni@wabash.edu to find out where your area event will be located.  You can also contact the class agents at wabash07@gmail.com .

On another note, we've kept this class blog going for a little over 2 years now without much evidence that it's being read or being used.  In light of that, we'll be making fewer entries here going forward - reserving communication for the quarterly letters and the annual newsletter along with e-mail and Facebook.

So, if you've found your way here and notice things haven't been updated in a long time, just know that we're still out there and can be contacted at wabash07@gmail.com .

Final Numbers

Another fiscal year for Wabash has come and gone.  All the reminders, challenges, and constant e-mailing are done for another year.  Despite the recession, many in the class came through with a donation to the Annual Fund.  Our class participation rate was once again among the highest of the young alumni.  Good work and thanks again to these generous classmates-

This just in today from Ben Gonzalez-

"Best man duties to report the marriage of Ms. Nicole "Niki" Novak to Chandler Troy '08 , yesterday afternoon (4PM, 13 June) at the Harrison Lake Country Club in Columbus, IN. Ceremony given by Ruth Moore, mother of John Moore '08 and wife of a Wabash grad. Grooms party: John Moore '08 usher, John Dicky Duncan Kasey '08 usher, Neal Monroe '08 groomsman, Ben Honeybear Cunninghan '07 groomsman, and Ben Gonzalez '07 bestman. Ceremony was outside with Phigammatastic colors of purple, black and silver. Newly weds are honey mooning 2 hours outside of cancun."

Thanks Ben!

And... can't make a post about anything in June without a shameless plug for the Wabash Annual Fund!  The deadline is about two weeks away now and we're lagging last year by 24 donors!  If you haven't given yet this year, please consider it- $5 or more will get you on the Honor Roll.

Newsletter: Version 2.0

The latest edition of '07 Rulez! is now available for download by clicking this link.  Version 2.0 means that it must have already been two years since our graduation.  Time sure has flown.  In fact, Wabash grads of the class of 2009 will be participating in commencement ceremonies exactly one week from today.  If you take a look at the newsletter, you'll see that your classmates have been quite active over the past couple of years- leading complex organizations, contributing their valuable expertise as teachers, traveling to far away places, earning advanced degrees, and starting their families.  This is a great and interesting time of life, filled both with uncertainty and adventure.  And although it may seem like people become "boring" as they get older, we suspect there will always be some great stories to tell as Versions 3 - 50+ get written.

Enjoy the newsletter, and please, don't forget to drop us a line once in awhile - wabash07@gmail.com.

Bring us your news!

Has it been two years already?  Well, not quite yet, but in order to get the annual class newsletter out in time for the celebration of our second year since Wabash, we must have some time to collect the news!  So what have you been up to this past year?  Any big plans for next year?  We are currently accepting any and all class updates to compile into the second editon of '07 Rulez!.  Feel free to write as much or as little as you like and you have the option to include a picture as well.  Point is, whatever you send in, we'll find a place for it.

Submitting is as simple as writing something down and sending it to the class e-mail at wabash07@gmail.com (best option for sending pictures).  For text only, you can also message Ross or Josh on Facebook or LinkedIn.   Remember, the newsletter can only happen if you submit something, so send it in!

Right:  The cover of last year's inaugural newsletter.

Post Bell Thoughts

This afternoon I'm listening to the Little Giants take on Case Western along with (according to Brent Harris on the air) my fellow classmate Chris Greisl along with perhaps others of you.  Addrian Frederick just made a pick setting us up for a chance to take a more commanding lead. Meanwhile, the basketball team looks to be holding onto a nice lead over DePauw in the Tip Off Classic consolation game.  Hopefully we can deliver them a fitting payback for last weekend.  TOUCHDOWN!  (now we're 13-3 over Case)

Alright, so last weekend was kind of a bummer at least for those of us hoping to watch our formerly #3 nationally ranked team pound our arch rivals and bring the Bell back to its rightful home.  But, on a positive note, lots of us made the trip back to cheer on our alma mater including Ben Gonzalez (photo courtesy of Wabash College).  I saw pledge brothers coming back from as far as Virginia, Nebraska, and Florida and had a great time catching up with everyone.  So for me at least, the trip was well worth it and I hope it was for you too.

With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, we plan to put out one more letter that, unfortunately, will have quite a lot of college-related news in it.  As you may or may not yet be aware, the administration took action in the week before Bell Week to shut down and disband the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.  But more on that and other news coming in the next letter.

Well, it seems that things have taken a turn for the worse as Wabash tries to beat Case in round 1 of the DIII playoffs.  With under two minutes to go, Case has taken a 4 point lead.  Wow, we just recovered from a 4th and 15 with a minute to go.  TOUCHDOWN!!!!  WOW!!!  That's unbelievable.  It's 20-17 now, and suddenly we have Case on the ropes!  57-52 Wabash is now the final of the Wabash-DePauw basketball game.  And... wait for it... 20-17 is now the final of the Wabash-Case game!  Well... that was fun.

Above:  Ben Gonzalez was one of the may '07ers in the crowd during last week's Monon Bell game.

Monon Bell: Reserve Now!

The Monon Bell Classic is coming up in about a month- Saturday, November 15 at Wabash.  Remember to reserve your tickets early if you plan to come.  Tickets should be easier to come by this year because it's at home, but don't expect to find some the day of!

See you there!
