I Guess French Wasn't So Bad After All...
Well, the end of the year has arrived... All my classes are finished and I will take my last final Wednesday. Once I finish testing, I plan to PARTAY! I may take a trip to DePauw Wednesday night... enough said right. This weekend is the Kentucky Durby... so I will be in Louisville all weekend. And, I cannot forget that the new Spiderman movie comes out Friday ...It's gonna be so awesome. And come next monday, I will be starting my internship.
However, I want to take this time not say how excited I am for summer, but I wish to reflect upon my Freshman year. I remember when my mom dropped me off on the first day. I was so excited. I was finally on my own and able to do my own thing. But as time went on, I realized I was not on my on at all. I had 17 other knuckleheads tagging along right behind me... I'm referring to my pledge class of course.
During pledgeship, I hardly had any free time. I was always with them. I had to eat with them, go to class with them, study with them, sleep with them, etc. I saw them from dawn to dusk, but what bothered me was that I had to announce where and what I was doing to them each time I made a move. Where was my autonomy? I thought I was suppose to be independent....I thought I was grown! But every time I made a move I had to report to one of my pledge brothers.
During the beginning, of pledgeship it really irked me, but now I am so thankful I put up with them. Sure enough, we lost 5 guys. But the 13 guys we have left are pretty solid. Maybe during late October I realized these guys will be my best friends forever. It was hard to swallow at first, but once I embraced that fact, I was happy that I was not so independent. I was happy that I had 12 brothers to lean on.
And these are some of the greatest men I have had the pleasure of meeting. They are brilliant and hilarious, annoying and stubborn, benevolent and kind... When you mix all this stuff together, you get my pledge class. So I am gonna shout them out (In no specific order of course): Meat, Hoffman, Freddy, Bob, Schrader-Tot, Marlboro Reub, K-Luv Wes, Schuster, BJ, Chaser, and Smut Kid... you guys are awesome. Here are some pics of our wackiest moments this year...
Some other things I think about at this moment: French. I freaked about this class so much last semester. I never had to work so hard, and it seemed no matter how hard I worked my grades never improved. But that's not the case now. I had one of the best grades in my French 102 class, and my professor asked if I was interested in pursuing French 201. I respectfully declined. If its one thing I learned this year, it is that French is not for me.
When I first got to campus, I just knew I was gonna major in Rhetoric. However, that is not the case today. I am not sure what I will major in, but I am happy just exploring my options.
So many things have happened this year. And I honestly dont want it to end. On Wednesday, another chapter of my life will close. I will be a sophomore. I ask myself: "Did I make the most of my Freshman year?"
Looking over my previous blogs, I think I did.

This past Tuesday, Beta Theta Pi took home the IM softball championship! Although, we left with no trophy, we left the stadium with all the glory. The game was a complete blow out. The final score was something like 16-4. It was awesome.
Did your first prom suck? Have you ever wanted to re-do your prom again? Well, Beta Theta Pi offers that to all its members... because what the formal was essentially... another prom! Although I had fun at prom the first 2 times I went, the formal, or my third prom was a blast. However, my day began as a fiasco. The formal was held at the Embassy Suites in downtown Indianapolis, and we left good-ole Crawfordsville about 3 pm. By the time we checked in at 4 pm, I realized I brought all my clothes except my black shoes! I was freaking out. I had this nice suit to wear, but no shoes. So, I decided to go to a mall and buy more black shoes... Crazy, right? The closest mall was pretty expensive, but I was able to find a pair for about $50. I was really upset... I bought a new pair of shoes I didn't need. Then, I had a brain flash. I remembered that my pledge brother Bobby was still on campus playing a baseball game... I knew he could bring my shoes. I must of called him like 30 times because he would not pick up the phone. But it turned out to be great because he bought my shoes and I returned the other ones.
So, once this fiasco was over, I was able to party. My date was from Indianaoplis... she attends IUPUI. We had a blast. This date was semi-blind. We met for the first time a week ago so we still didn't know one another too well. But that didn't stop us from having a good time with one another. Overall, the night was a success. here are more
Have you ever heard the rumor of Wabash busing girls down on the weekend? Well, its still not true; however, sorority girls will drive down to Wabash in their own vehicles. So the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma decided to party with Beta this past Thursday night. And let me tell you what, those ladies can party. I know I still heard the ladies screaming on the dance floor at 3:45 am while I was trying to sleep on the 4th floor. I know. I was trying to sleep when half a sorority was over flooding our house, but I did have 4 classes the next day. And my first class was at 9 am. So I partied until I had to go to bed.
However, several Brothers were not nearly as conscientious as I was.... some stayed up until 6 am... and their first class was at 8 am. Personally, I feel like we should make this a tradition. On random Thursday throughout the academic year, the Kappa ladies should come at kick it with us...
Easter has been a good time for me...
Imagine a race. A race that has no rules. A race where anything goes.... well, pretty much.
