My Last Fall Break
So, this year I had the pleasure of traveling to NYC and Boston with two friends of mine, Matt and Drew. We left Crawfordsville at 1:00 pm and we had a very long 16-hour drive. When we first hit the road, I studied for the GRE for a couple of hours. Then, I was lucky enough to learn that Matt had an electric outlet in his car. I was able to watch a couple of movies and one of my favorite TV shows, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Having a laptop on the road really helped pass the time quite nicely.
At about, 3:30 in the morning we arrived in Queens, NYC. We stayed the night at my sister's apartment. That day, my sister and I just hung out and caught up on old times. I was able to babysit my youngest nephew, Jaylen, while my sister could just chill and relax. Later in the evening, my sister and went into Manhattan and had dinner at a BBQ restaurant. It was pretty good. Then, after dinner, we went to the Ripley Believe It or Not museum. We got some pretty funny pictures too.
The following afternoon, I took a bus to Boston to see my friend Ashlee. We ended up having dinner at a really nice Japanese restaurant; I was able to try sake for the first time. To be honest, that may have been my last time drinking sake too. After dinner, we both put on costumes and we went to a Halloween party. This party was a little different for me. All the attendees were either in graduate school or professionals; I'm pretty sure I was the youngest person there. This was a problem for me... it was just a first.
On the last day, we left Boston at 7 am. I had the first shift in the drive.. it wasn't too bad. For the remainder of the time, I dozed off in the back seat. We got back to Crawfordsville about 1 am in the morning.
I'm pretty happy with this fall break.
