It's Always Sunny in Philedelphia

Because I'm so busy at school, I don't have time for a lot of things. I dont have time for video games or facebook or even TV. I cant remember the last time I turn on the TV in my bedroom! However, this year I've fallen in love with a comedy show called It's Always Sunny in Philedelphia. The show is like a cross between Seinfeld and a Judd Apatow movie. That is, the show is about nothing and the humor is the inapprpiate kind found in Talladega Nights, Anchorman, and Knocked Up. It is hilarious! The characters are the most immoral creatures to walk this earth, and the situations they find themselves in are quite entertaining.

Like I said before, I really dont have time to watch TV. But, my friend Cliff introduced me to the show. After watching some episodes, I've decided I cant live without it. Sunny comes on Thursday nights, and I usually miss the first run. However, I make time the following Friday to catch up on the most recent episodes online. After a hard week of studying, watching Sunny is the best way for me to relax.

Watch a few episodes. You wont regret it.

Miracle Baby

My younger sister had a baby about 6 months ago. The baby was 3 months premature. Since her birth, Jade has been in and out the hospital. Yesterday, she was hospitalized again. My mom says that the doctors think she might have pneumonia. I can only guess how my sister is feeling. When her baby was first born, she practically lived in the hospital for 2 months. Now, she is back there again. I'm sure she misses her own bed.

My family is really supportive though. They will always help my sister when they can. They'll stop by and drop off some lunch for her, or they will sit with the baby while she goes home to shower. Even though I am away, its comforting to know that my family is supporting my sister through this difficult time. I'm praying that the baby will be fully recovered by Christmas.

You think its possible?

Thanksgiving in Memphis

So, I left Wabash today for home. Usually, I fly home, but this time I decided to rent a car. The car ride down was pretty smooth, except for one thing. I didn't get pulled over by the cops or anything; however, I did see something unusual. As I was driving down 57-S, I saw a car catch fire! It was insane. The car was sitting in flames on the side of the road. I dont think anyone was inside the car though. After I realized there was a fire, I called 911. I guess I wasn't the only person shocked by the car because the 911 operator told me that they had already recieved like 10 calls about it. I couldn't stick around to see if everything was ok, but I pray that it was.

Outside of that, the car ride was uneventful. I got really sleepy about 3 hours into the drive. I stopped by a gas station and picked up a couple of red bulls. Now, I never used red bulls to study; so, I was skeptical about how effective these energy drinks might be. To my surprise, the drinks worked better than I expected. I was so focused on the road and oddly happy. I think the red bulls made me feel happy. I guess red bull really does give you wings.

H1N1 scare

A couple of days ago, I got terribly sick. It hit me quickly. I was lying in bed around 12:30 on Monday night and ran to the bathroom. It wasnt pretty once I got there. I was awake for the following eight hours in pain; it  was the worst. The first thing I did Tuesday morning was see the nurse. As I walked to her office, I noticed how sore I was. I had a mild cough. When Nurse Lamb took my temperature, it was 101 degrees. She told me to come back in a couple of hours to see the doctor. As I walked back to Beta, I was almost sure I had H1N1.

The thought of getting H1N1 this week distressed me. I've been preparing my grad school applications, and I need to get them out by Friday. I did not want an illness to knock me on my back for 4 or 5 days. However, on Tuesday morning, it was nothing I could really do. I turned on some Bugs Bunny cartoons and fell asleep until it was time to see the doctor.

When I went back to the doctor's office, he told me I did not have H1N1 (thank God). He told me I did have the flu though. He gave it some fancy name, but essentially it was the stomach flu. He gave me some medicine and told me to get some rest for the next couple of days.

I'm glad to say I'm feeling better, but the thought of getting H1N1 really frightened me. I'm just glad I didn't have to go through with it.

The Bell's Home!

WE WON THE GAME! WE WON THE GAME! WE WON THE GAME!

You can practically feel the electricity on campus right... everyone's excited. There is a special ringing of the bell ceremony in Chapel right now. Its cool because everyone on campus can come and ring the Bell if they want. This ceremony is especially appropiate because it underlines that the Bell belongs to the entire Wabash community: students, faculty, staff, and their families.
Last Thursday, we had our traditional Bell Chapel. Matt Hudson, the quarterback, promised that the Bell was coming home this weekend. And he delivered.... its going to be a great night.

Bell Week

Sorry for the delay of this post. I've been intending to write, but this may be the worst month of my life. All my grad school applications are due less than a month away, and I want to be done with each of them before Thanksgiving Break. So, that pretty gives me this week and next week to get everything done. Most of the components of my application are finally here. I got my official GRE scores and my personal statement is in a form I'm proud of. In regards to my personal statement, I am so thankful that it's finally done. I've been writing it since last June. Dr. Horton, one of the psychology professors, has been working with me on it, and he has been especially patient with me. I cant count the hours I've spent in his office discussing that essay, but I'm so thankful he kept working with me.

In other news, this week is the Bell! It's weird to think that its the last one I will have as an undergrad. Where did all the time go? After two years, I'm praying that the Bell will come home next Saturday. That would be a great memory to add to this senior year. If we win, I feel like the celebration on campus that night would be legendary.... Everyone's so excited and ready to win. You can just feel the electricity.

Halloween Weekend

This year, my Halloween wasn't spent in costume. I didn't go to a fraternity party or go trick-or-treating. I spent my Halloween at a wedding. A classmate of mine, James Brazill, got married yesterday. He asked me if I would attend and play the piano during cocktail hour. Of course I agreed. I've been practicing all week. I needed to warm up some songs I havent played for a while. I performed several classical tunes I learned years ago. It was really to perform again. Honestly, I miss the piano program from high school. I spent hours practicing and performing, but it was all worth it in the end. At the end of the day, I guess I'm a musician at heart. I love music, and I love to listen to others perform even more. I love to sit behind the piano and play until I'm sleepy. I miss that about high school.
