A Part of History

Coach Chris Creighton:

A part of history...

This past weekend was a special one for Wabash Football. Our game verses Denison University was the 1,000th game in Wabash Football history. Wabash Football is steeped in tradition and to be a small part of it is an honor.

Our team watched a DVD touching on the 120+ years of football at Wabash on the bus prior to the game and it really put into perspective how fortunate we all are to be a part of this great tradition. The game was a lot of fun and with the win we wrapped up a share of the conference championship.

Winning back to back conference championships on the 1000th game made the day even more special.

The 1,001st game in Wabash Football history will be a huge deal as well when we host DePauw in the Monon Bell Classic. In Division III, we play and coach for each other and because we love the game and not because of fame or because the players are on scholarship.

The Bell game is special for many reasons but one of those reasons is because at least once every season our players play in a game that matters to a lot of people outside of the immediate team. It is a taste of the big time without having to make compromises. The game is expected to sell out and will be broadcast throughout the nation. It is another incredible Wabash Football tradition.

On behalf of the 2006 Wabash Football team — I say thank you to everyone who has had a part in making Wabash Football such a special program and tradition. We do not take our time in this program for granted and we hope that our efforts on Saturday make you proud.

Wabash Always Fights!
