Coach Metzelaars Gets His Super Bowl Ring
Coach Creighton — Congratulations to the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts!
Championships are always sweeter when the internal team sticks together and believes in one another despite tough circumstances and outsiders who doubt. The Colts have persevered through years of heartbreak but they stuck with each other and got it done.
This championship was so meaningful because of the road they traveled to make it happen. Coach Dungy mentioned after the game that this was probably not the most talented team that they have had in the past few years but this team became special — they believed in one another and stayed focused on the task at hand.
Team over talent — it is so hard for people to believe it but it is the necessary intangible ingredient for a championship. Even in the NFL truly being a team is what takes you to the top — amazing.
As a football program we want to especially congratulate Coach Pete Metzelaars for winning Super Bowl 41. These Colts have endured some disappointment for the past few years but Coach Metzelaars has been pursuing an NFL Championship since the 1980's and now he has won.
It couldn't have happened to a better person. He has been so good to Wabash Football over the years and we appreciate him and what he stands for. Good guys don't always win in the end but it sure did happen in this case.
