Coach's Corner - "Finally, it's game week!"

It’s officially game week. Finally! I remember when our Countdown Clock read 294 days. Now it reads 3 days, 15 hours, 1 minute, and ticking. Our players are pumped to take the field and kickoff the 2008 season. I’m excited to coach my first game at Wabash, but the pessimist in me wishes we had another week of practice.

Our theme for the week is “Wabash doesn’t beat Wabash”. Our coaching staff felt that was appropriate because in our scrimmages we have been hurt by pre-snap penalties and blown assignments. Our wounds have been self inflicted. We have made too many mistakes in our two scrimmages to beat an experienced team like Denison. So, we felt the focus needs to be on cleaning things up this week. We’ll need great effort, intensity and complete concentration everyday out on the practice field. We need to make great progress in a hurry!

We have tremendous leadership in our senior class. We’ll really need it, especially early in the season. Our seniors have the opportunity to be the first class to win four NCAC titles and could leave Wabash with more wins than any other class in school history. The rest of us need to do everything we can to make that happen. And it all starts in 3 days, 14 hours, ……!

Wabash Always Fights!
