Coach's Corner - "In the Driver's Seat"
After a tough stretch, we’re in the driver’s seat for the NCAC title. Back to back games against undefeated conference rivals proved to be a real challenge, but our guys were up for it. Wooster’s defense had been outstanding all season leading the conference in many categories including takeaways and scoring. Their offense was equally explosive. With a dual threat at QB, they are capable of scoring every time they touch the ball. Our team knew Wooster would be a huge test.
The guys up front really set the tone for us on offense. Facing an explosive offense, we really needed to run the ball effectively and keep their QB on the sidelines. Our offensive line and tight ends paved the way, leading us to 240 yards rushing. Sobecki, Kimp and Yoder each ran hard and it turned out to be the difference.
Our defense rose to the occasion as well. We have played great defense all year, but if we have had a weakness it has been creating turnovers. That was not a weakness on Saturday. Our defense created six turnovers including a 76 yard interception return for a touchdown by Derrin Slack to seal the win.
I was proud of our guys and the focus and effort they put fourth all week. After such an emotional win on the road versus Wittenberg, it would have been easy for us to have a letdown. Our seniors made sure that did not happen and now we are in sole possession of first place.

My wife, I, and one of my sons trekked up to Springfield for the Wittenberg game.
It was great to see the team fight so hard. The team never gave up. The game was one of the most exciting we've ever been to.
Keep up the good work!
