The Week Is Flying By
As usual, I am once again amazed that it is already Wednesday, however, I am ready for the weekend. The calc test on monday went well but didn't come without about 3 hours of sleep. I think I've been averaging about 6 hours of sleep a night which isn't awful, but really starts to catch up with you about Wednesday. Chem lab got out early today which was awesome. It's always nice to get out before 4 on a Wednesday afternoon.
We had two guys in the house become rhynies with the Sphinx Club and once again it is pretty comical to see the mall alive again with air raids. Air Raid - (verb) a rhynie, when commanded, screams air raid, throws hat in the air, does summersault, lays on back and pumps feet in the air yelling, "Boom, Boom Boom." It really does add to the 6 degree walk to class.
How about the weather yesterday? 53 degrees at 4 and then about 9 degrees 3 hours later. I about froze when I left to go lift at 8 with only a tshirt and shorts on, not to mention I almost fell on my butt with all the ice that was forming.
Lastly, I would just like to make a note of the mentors on WabashWorks. It has really been helping me out. As a student, you have the ability to look up alumni in their perspective fields and write them to ask for help/information/direction. The mentors listed want to help the students and really has been pretty cool. I've been corresponding with a few healthcare professionals about different areas of medicine and summer opportunities. Yet another benefit of being a student, maybe it's worth it after all? Haha only kidding.
I'll be heading to Indy for the weekend to catch up on some RR and study up for that Chem test creeping up on me. It will be good to sleep in my own bed. I'll give you a picture comparison of my bed at home to my current bed for your entertainment in the next blog.

A Fun Weekend
This honestly was a pretty solid weekend. Friday I got out of class at 11:10 ate lunch, lifted, and then went to see the student presentations over at Detcheon. It was pretty cool to see the projects the students had been working on with professors or independently, I am sure one of these years I will have the opportunity to do something of the like. After the presentations, I helped Nobbe rebuild the lofts and stuff in his room which actually took a lot longer than I had expected and I left right after that to go catch the swim meet at Depauw with some guys in the house. We did see our bell - locked in the bulletproof glass case with lasers and motion sensors all over it - it was probably a fake though used as a decoy so they don't lose it again. The meet was a pretty solid meet. It was really pretty close until the second to last event. I do miss the sport, but enjoy not always worrying about all the specifics.
Saturday was our big party night. We did a 90s themed party with the Betas. It really was a pretty solid time I thought, I really don't have too much a frame of reference because we only had two parties last semester. All in all, it was a fun weekend.
This week brings a calculus test and a chem test lurking in the shadows(it's next monday). I get to speak at St. Bernard's grade school for Catholic schools week on Tuesday so I'm pretty excited about that. Other than that, I think we're looking at a pretty average week. Sphinx Club interviews were tonight so maybe I'll get some good shots of the new rhynies for the blog.
Third Eye Blind will be here in two weeks, Feb. 9th. Tickets just went on sale to the public so if you're like a prospect and looking to come see what Wabash is like on the weekends, that's probably not what it's like here on most weeks but it would be a good excuse to come up for the night.
I did manage to go to every one of these events without taking a single picture - I know, brilliant.

Surprisingly, an easy week...
I was pleasantly surprised last night to learn I had done more work this weekend that I thought. Because of this, I've managed to work ahead and have some free time. Last night I went to the call out for APO - Alpha Phi Omega - the service fraternity on campus. We meet again tonight and it sounds like they do some pretty cool service projects throughout the year.
It's been internship week here and I do have to applaud career services on the events this week. I have attended only one but have had plenty of opportunities to learn about internship possibilities. It really is surprising how much the career services people know. Well maybe surprising is the wrong word, perhaps helpful?
As Wednesday comes to an end, anticipation builds for this weekend. We're throwing another party, finally, at the house. It's nice having something to work for. I've found if I just set something up for each weekend or at least convince myself I am working towards something it helps the weeks go by.
I feel like I should give Richard his two cents and congratulate him on advancing into the second round of candidates for the 21st Real World. It really would be hilarious to watch him on the show.
Finally, I just wanted to note how good it felt outside today even though it was 9 degrees in the morning. I anticipate the Spring season and enjoyed the warm sun melting all the snow today.

Top Twenty Day
As usual, I just finished a chemistry quiz, saw the key, and was immediately angry with myself. Haha, really though that's about how all my chemistry tests/quizzes go and then I worry about them until I get the scores back and find out I did somewhere in between what I thought I got before I saw the key and what I thought I got after I saw the key. I am however happy to report I'm a little above the mean between the two on average.
The end of last week was pretty regular minus the allergic reaction I had. I got really itchy, turned bright red, and my cheeks swelled up. This was combated with Benadryl which went over really well with my homework for Friday. Actually, I talked to all my profs and got them to let me turn everything in that afternoon. I am sorry to report I did not take a picture of myself during the reaction, I'm sure it would have proven a highlight of this blog.
Today is Top Twenty day on campus and I again reflect back on my college decision process and even when I was visiting campus for these days. Who would have thought I would have ended up writing blogs a year later?
This should be a pretty busy week, I have about 4 post-it notes of things to do... Blogs may be sparse.

A Long Second Week...
Keeping with the theme of last week, it's been full steam ahead this week. The professors have been in full swing assigning work and keeping true to the true academic promise of Wabash. I've read approximately 300-400 pages thus far in all my classes combined. It hasn't been awful but has been a lot of work. As always, I am more than happy to bring an end to Wednesday and can't wait to get to the weekend.
On a more comical note, an arch has appeared in the middle of the mall which is an identical replica of "the arch." I refuse to walk under anything assimilating such a macabre meaning.
On a lighter note, I bid farewell to the mystery blogger and claim my throne as the blogger that outlasted Alex Buchanan.

Back to Work
So I have become rather lackadaisical with my blogging over, well, the past month or so. Beginning with Christmas break: it was very relaxing to say the least. I awoke about noon every day and went to bed no earlier than two every morning. And to be completely honest, I do not feel bad about this - it was a great break after a long semester. I did spend a decent amount of time catching up with my buddies from high school and once again reaffirm that Wabash is a much different environment than any other college in the state.
I arrived back at the house on Sunday to begin initiation at the house. Honestly, this first week was a lot busier than I expected and was filled with a lot of unexpected events. It was good, it was fun and I can call myself a brother, but it did not come without labor. Classes started with a bang including a 2 and a half hour lab on the first day of classes - WOOOH!
Now with my first blog, I dedicate it to another semester of hard work, fun times, Track Season, no girls, owning Michael Nobbe, seeing freshmen on campus, and to the Packer's Super Bowl run - really, with Dallas losing is it that far-fetched?
O and to the kid that asked about the room with the big table in it that I was studying in, its in Goodrich its like a lecture room/classroom that I locked myself in for like 12 hours a day.
