Tuesday Morning
I'm in the Hays Hall 2nd floor library again, practicing some O-Chem and writing up some biology stuff. I got hit with a cold about a week and a half ago and have been fighting with that so I feel a little sick. I went and saw the campus doctor yesterday, I'm really glad we've got the doctor that comes onto campus otherwise it would take a really hardcore sickness to get me to go see a doctor about it. He just put me on an anti-biotic for like a sinus infection or something like that.
I did well on my O-chem test last week, that really made my day yesterday. 2 tests down, 2 to go - including one a week from tomorrow. I planned out my graduation plan basically for the next 2 years, part of studying abroad, and it looks like after this year I'll gain back soo much time. Not only that, but after having 2 labs for an entire year, just about anything would seem easier. It really got me excited.
I saw the opening of the new art show on campus last night and it was pretty interesting stuff, if you get the chance and are on campus, it's worth checking out. Also, notice any particular person on the homepage today? ha =)

New Initiates
This weekend, we added 3 new members to our brotherhood. It was pretty neat to see it from the other side, as a brother. The weekend ran really smooth with very few problems. This kept me occupied both evenings so I don't have really much to say about the weekend.
Should be another normal week, had 2 tests last week so it should be pretty low key. I need to figure out what I'm going to go as for Halloween and then where I'm going to go. We blew our party budget early in the semester so we won't have any more parties at the house until next semester. Guess that means less to clean up right?
2 weeks until elections at the house.

College Mentors
CMFK was pretty fun today. I think we've devised a pretty good schedule: snacks/bathroom, talk, run around for 20 minutes on the mall, activity, journal time, departure. We did a little bit on diversity call "Around the World" today. It amazes me how simple a little kids world is. It went well though and I really do enjoy working with kids. I'm very much considering something in pediatrics post-wabash.

Back from Break.
Break was solid, really just spent a lot of time with my family and slept a lot more than I had hoped. It didn't really bother me though, its nice to catch up once in a while. Daily routine: wake up around 11:30, eat lunch with my parents, play nintendo for an hour - ok so it was more like 3, study for 2-3 hours because I'm panicking for having played nintendo that long, watch a movie with mom and dad, play more nintendo, go to bed. The nintendo 64 is really killing MY on my breaks and I don't even have my favorite game.
This is a pretty busy week, not only do we have initiation stuff, but I have an organic and a bio test. I feel fairly well prepared for both already though, time will tell though. This morning I got up and got a flu shot at the Allen Center, it's always nice how they bring the people to us, I used to hate getting the flu during High School.
We have a comedian coming saturday Wabash Comedian visiting --> YouTube link.

Fall Break... Wooh!
I'm writing this from my home in Indy. It feels good to be back at home. I actually have been able to sleep in 2 days this week. I realized when I woke up at 10 on Thursday that was the first time basically since school started that I've been able to sleep in on a weekday. It was nice.
Tuesday was a mandatory chapel called by Pat White. I've never seen the chapel so full except for maybe freshmen ringing in ceremony. His comments mainly regarded the gentleman's rule specifically the part about being a responsible citizen. I sort of wish we had mandatory chapels still...
Wednesday was pretty low key, art class let out early and I got home around 5. I've not got much planned for over break. I may try to go out on a few dates or something but other than that, I've got two tests this upcoming week so I'll be doing some homework everyday.
I can not believe its already mid-semester...

Indifferent Weekend...
This weekend was a little rough. The wedding was a bit non traditional - especially with what I am used to. Not terrible, just unexpected. It was good to see my family from Florida, it seems like we've built a little bit stronger of a relationship with them and always nice to have them in town. Saturday night I got to see an old friend whom I hadn't seen in a while, it's always nice to catch up in person with people you talk to on the phone all the time. She's doing well and looked good ha - I may get into trouble for that one. =)
Friday night I just hung out with the family all night watching movies and such - very relaxing. I do think the one thing I would change about the weekend is to take some more alone time. I usually have Friday afternoons or saturday mornings or something to just be by myself and relax or whatever but I didn't really get that this weekend. As nice as it is to have a roommate there are definitely times where you just wish you could have the room or whatever - but what are libraries for?
This week should really be pretty easy. Biology and chemistry both pushed there tests back to the following week so really not much to worry about there; however, I've got 2 art projects due. I cannot wait for 5 days off. Initiation starts the following week for the fall initiates at the house.
I cannot believe this year is going so fast. I think this is the first time this year I've found in absurd how quickly the year is moving. Also, I apologize for the lack of pictures, I usually do them on my phone and send them to the computer but I've been having some technical difficulties which I plan to take care of the following week.

Beautiful Friday
I love fridays here, it always comes with such a feeling of elation knowing I've got two days off and usually some fun stuff ahead of me. People always say Wabash - work hard play hard, but its really true. It hasn't been too bad of a week, see, I've been trying this new thing this year called the learning curve where I study the entire week for a little bit instead of like right at the end for a long time. It's been good for me so far. Haha, nah I started studying bio early this week and was ready to go last night before I even opened my book. I had a couple extra hours to run around and see what the guys were up to.
Thursday morning, the Delts put on a very nice memorial service for Johnny Smith, I don't think anyone left chapel without a tear or two in their eyes. It's really heartfelt seeing something like that happen.
Thursday afternoon was a blast. We had the first college-mentors activity which was just a scavenger hunt to introduce them to the college and all. It always amazes me how much the little boys just want to be little boys and crack goofy jokes, run and climb all over everything, and talk about pooping. I couldn't get my kid to journal about anything but pooping. I let him though, I think it's better he get that out now than fighting it the rest of the year =).
Going home this weekend, family wedding tomorrow and lot of organic mechanisms to learn.

Fast Week...
I'm surprised it's Wednesday already. Monday was really pretty low key, we started a new art project. In the afternoon, about 25 of us brothers took a plate of cookies and a card over to the Delt house. Wabash men first, fraternity members second. They still remain in our thoughts and prayers.
I ended up getting a lot done Tuesday morning before a talk from Dr. Porter about student research. It was really pretty cool stuff, over the last 5-6 years he's probably had close to 20 students work in his lab with him on silicon chips. I know sounds boring right? But its not just the typical microchip stuff, but more specifically on nano-technology stuff inside the body. He's really allowed the students to do some neat things and work with some pretty hardcore chemicals.
Today I've been more tired than I think I should be. I can't figure out why, tonight I'm going back to the art building to work some more on my project then studying bio and chem as usual. This weekend I have to go back home for a family wedding.

Homecoming Weekend...
Friday was a study night. I went to see Robin Williams Thursday night and then didn't do much when I got back from that so I went ahead and, like a dedicated student, went over to the library after a nap following dinner. I managed to get a project done and then came back and watched Wag the Dog with some guys, it was a pretty relaxing night.
I woke up Saturday really early to clean the house for alumni and sat out at the front door from like 9-6 welcoming alumni, showing them around, etc. As always, it's fun to meet alums. A lot of the class of 2005 was here and as usual some odds and ends from the different classes. Saturday night was more of a party night but again, nothing too crazy. I wish we had more of an all campus thing on homecoming night kind of trying to bring everyone together.
Sunday was a work day, tutoring went well then I didn't have much to do since I worked Friday =)
I ask everyone to please keep the family of Johnny Smith and the entire Delt brotherhood in their thoughts and prayers.

Chapel Sing
Again, Chapel Sing has come and gone. It was really interesting to be on the other side. As much as I miss it though, I wouldn't want to do it again. Theres so much pressure on the guys to do well and make their house proud. I kind of felt bad for some of the kids.
LCA had a disappointing showing. We had a couple of W's that set us too far behind to even have a chance at winning. It's alright though, I'm proud of the guys for representing LCA well and putting in 4-5 weeks of practice.
As always, when in a coaching position, it's always disheartening to see your boys lose. And while it may be something as dorky as Chapel Sing, it's a great Wabash tradition and I am sad to see noon and elevel PM practices go. I'm proud of the time put in and will always look back fondly on coaching these freshmen in Chapel Sing, sometimes things just don't go as planned...

A Pretty Easy Going Week...
So far, it's really been a pretty stress-free week. Don't get me wrong, I've been busy, but not stressed. I don't know why. Two cool things that happened this week:
I was studying in the Haensich(sp) Library in Haye's Hall when Professor Feller walked in with who was to be the guest speaker that afternoon. I finished up my work then around 11 was studying on the middle floor when Dr. Feller told me I could sit and chat with the guest speaker if I would like. I ended up sitting across from a very British guest speaker who had pioneered some pretty cool studies involving antibiotics. However, the discussion was pretty light, mainly graduate schools, medical schools, and different programs out there about those. I picked his brain a bit about studying abroad in England. I went to his lecture after he left the library and found myself a bit confused by it. It was really interesting stuff and I did understand a lot of what he was saying - atleast more than the freshman sitting next to me. Still pretty cool though, being able to sit and chat with a fairly brilliant man.
Secondly, Tuesday night we had another study abroad fair. I went around and talked to the representatives of various programs about several programs and since I'm hoping to transfer in a chemistry credit, I've pretty much narrowed it to either Oxford in England, or University of Christchurch in New Zealand. One of the reps gave me a really awesome raggae/tribal band that plays at the college in New Zealand all the time. It's pretty cool stuff, very chill. I think I'm leaning more towards Oxford though. I know a friend studying abroad now who is just having a blast, but having a blast in terms of going out every night to the pubs and really just a lot of playtime. While I would/do enjoy that type of fun, I think I would be disappointed in my experience doing something like that. I don't know, I just think the opportunity to do something like study at Oxford may be a once in a lifetime experience, especially since I'm planning to go to Medical school and all. Time will tell, in the meantime though, I'm picking peoples brains and pulling together ideas - I have until December 5th. Feel free to send me some ideas.
The freshmen are amidst their first homecoming week and building the float. Tomorrow is D-Day, the most prepared for LCA event all year when 20 associates march onto the mall to sing...
