TYR Classic-Day 1
In what has been an amazing start to a great weekend for Wabash Swimming, the tankers sit atop the loaded field of teams at the TYR Classic at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI. The guys had one of the best first day showings at a major competition in recent Wabash history. Competing against No. 2 ranked Lincoln College (NJCAA), No. 3 ranked St. Cloud State (DII), No. 6 ranked Illinois Tech (NAIA), No. 7 ranked St. Olaf (DIII), No. 9 ranked Gustavus (DIII), No. 10 ranked Carthage (DIII), No. 14 ranked Lewis University (DII), the No. 13 ranked Little Giants managed to break one school record, post two NCAA B-Cuts and swim numerous lifetime best times on their way to scoring 572 points on the first day of competition. With a 22-point lead, the tankers hope to continue the momentum into Saturday's morning swims.
Sophomore, Adam Petro (Indianapolis, IN/Decatur Central), broke a 14-year old school record previously held by Jason Cain '93 in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:53.45 (NCAA B-Cut). Petro also met an NCAA provisional time standard in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:53.66, giving him two national cuts on day one.†
