Bio's Continued
Having been on campus for a month now, I am finally starting to get the swing of things. My name is Brian Graham '12 and I am a new member of the Wabash College Swim Team. The last name may sound familiar to some and that’s because my older brother Brent is a senior and captain on the team as well. Having an older brother on the team, at the college, and in the same fraternity has its own challenges, but I wouldn’t trade the experience away.
I first became interested in attending Wabash after Brent’s freshman year. My interest and desire only grew from there and by the time I was a senior and applying for college Wabash was my one and only choice. The short time I have spent on campus has only confirmed and strengthened my desire to be a member of the Wabash Community.
Although my decision to attend Wabash was easy, the decision to swim was not. While attending Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, I participated in Cross Country, Swimming, and Track. Deciding whether to be a running or swimming Little Giant took a lot of time and a lot of thinking. Although I do miss running at times, I am happy with the decision I made and look forward to being a part of the team this season.
I can safely tell you all that I will be swimming freestyle for the team this year, but what I can’t tell you is how far I will be swimming. Throughout my first three years at Homestead I swam distance freestyle qualifying for state in the 500 both my Sophomore and Junior years as well as the 200 freestyle my junior year. During my senior year I became more of a short distance freestyler swimming the 100 and 200 Free individually at sectionals, and placing 3rd in the 200 Free Relay an 4th in the 400 Free Relay with my teammates at state.
I don’t know exactly where the team will go this year, but I look forward to contributing to the success of the team at whatever freestyle distance I am needed.
