Vetor Ready For Round 3

My name is Craig Vetor and this is my third year here at the ‘Bash.  Though the school year has only just begun, it didn’t take me long to jump into the fast lane.  Already I can tell this year is going to be one of hard work and responsibility, but at the same time one with much excitement; I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I walked on campus this year as a freshmen orientation leader in order to show the freshmen a warm welcome on behalf of the Wabash community, as well as give them an idea of what they will encounter at Wabash.  The task took up most of my time during the days before classes but needless to say, it was very exciting. It was a fun experience to share with the freshmen as well as an eerie feeling knowing that it feels like it was just last week that I was in their shoes, looking just as clueless as they.

Sure the freshman orientation took up much of my time, but you would be mistaken if you think I didn’t find time for other activities.  For instance, I’ve been busy with getting situated in my on-campus house along with my five housemates; Matt Routh, Jordan Extine, JordOn Blackwell, Jared Tribbett, and Ian Sequeira. For the most part, the house is a swimmer house consisting of four swimmers but the additional two non-swimmers are an awesome addition to the house! The house is three stories, including the basement, five bedrooms, two bathrooms, and because of its great location, I really couldn’t ask for more.

Because I am graduating in two years, I have been giving my career options serious thought during these first two weeks.  I have been working on my resume and cover letter and have already applied to an internship for next summer.  In addition I have been setting up job shadow opportunities in fields that interest me with Wabash alumni, which I am very excited for.  I have been helped along the way in my career search by the staff of the Schroeder Career Center, namely Wabash’s newest addition Mike Kerr, the internship coordinator as well as my new assistant swim coach.  Though new, he has been an asset in advising me with my resume and cover letters, and I’ve already learned much from him.

Most recently I have been involved with swim lessons which are offered to the community from the swim team.  For me, I find this to be a very rewarding experience because, not only do you get to teach kids to take their first strokes, but it is also an excellent opportunity to interact and get to know better people in the community.

It may be hard to believe, but amidst it all I’ve still had time to swim everyday.   I’m very excited about this swim season!  We have a solid group of guys this year, and I look forward to watching the damage that will be done at conference.  Until then I will keep swimming and making use of my time in my third bout at Wabash College: round three.
