The Wabash Swimming and Diving Team welcomed twelve alums back to the College this past Saturday for our First Annual Alumni Swim Meet. Participating for the Alumni Team were: Michael Hewitt '07, Hugh Vandivier '91, Nick Collins '03, Aaron Spolarich '08, Loren Anderson '88, Curt Keller '80, Brad Baldauf '88, Steve Turk '91, Gary Mineart '00, Steve Birrer '04 and myself. Dave Riggs '91 was also in attendance.

The Alumni competed with current Tankers in six events, including the 100 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 50 Backstroke, 50 Breaststroke, 50 Freestyle and 100 I.M. Event Winners for the Alumni were:

100 Freestyle: Nick Collins '03 - 57.01
50 Butterfly: Michael Hewitt '07 - 25.19
50 Backstroke: Nick Collins '03 - 32.35
50 Breaststroke: Ben Hewitt '05 - 29.26
50 Freestyle: Loran Anderson '88 - 26.06
100 I.M.: Michael Hewitt '07 - 58.86

All the event winners set meet records as well.

The meet was a huge success and I enjoyed meeting everyone in attendance. There were so many great swims and they all deserve recognition. More importantly, a great time was had by all and everyone is eager to come back next year ready to go. A special thanks goes out to Head Coach John Weitz for running the timing system and to Coach Gail Pebworth for serving as our starter.

The 2nd Annual Alumni Meet will take place on Saturday, September 26th 2009 at 10:00 AM. Add the date to your calendar now as I look forward to seeing a great number of alums competing next year!
