In the Eyes of a Freshmen

This year’s Winter Training Trip was a blast! As a freshman this was my first Wabash Winter Training Trip, and it was great. I had never practiced in an outdoor competition pool before the trip. Practicing in two outdoor pools, both short-course and long-course, was an exiting experience. My tinted goggles proved very useful. Also, as many of us found, sunscreen was a necessity for practice. The first dinner of the trip was on our own. Paul, Eric, and I ate at Rattlesnake Jake’s. The air was full of a nice warm breeze, and the restaurant’s atmosphere was very welcoming. We all knew, at that moment, that this trip was going to be a good one. Between the outdoor pools, the beach, the Goodyear blimp, and the stories of past years, the trip was full of excitement. Oh yes, and you can’t forget the Broward County Sheriff. Three sheriff cars had our van pulled over in a bank parking lot, of all places. One of the officers used to lived three blocks from Coaches house in Baltimore. Thankfully the violation was the fault of the rental company and not of the driver. The last night was spent packing, poking-fun, reminiscing, and enjoying long moonlit walks on the beach. I can’t wait until next year.
