2008-2009 Season Preview!!!

Season Preview!

It is an exciting time of year here at Wabash as students are back to campus and the wrestlers are already working hard in preparation for the upcoming season!  We are returning a strong senior class who we will not only be counting on to win big matches for us, but to set the tone for the incoming freshman class in the classroom, weight room, and on the mats.  Jarred Tribbett, Rob Arnett, Stephen Mosier, Steven Isles, Cody Johnson, Michael Burke, and Graham Youngs will provide valuable experience to the lineup, as they all have ample amounts of starting experience.  However, no one’s spots are secure as the Little Giants had a great off season of lifting and wrestling which will make for some interesting battles for the ten starting spots.  Adding to the mix of returning wrestlers will be an incoming freshmen class of sixteen freshmen who will be ready to challenge the upper classmen in every position.  This incoming freshmen class received national honors as one of the top incoming Division III recruiting classes in the nation!  This freshman class collected many medals at state meets and not only from Indiana, but from Ohio, Idaho, and Illinois.

Not only are there new freshmen on campus, but also joining the coaching staff is new head assistant coach Danny Irwin, a graduate of Manchester College and a 2X National Qualifier for the Spartans.  Also joining the staff will be assistant coach Joe Lamplot, a graduate of Manchester College and four year starter for the Spartans.  Coach Lamplot’s primary responsibilities will be to work with the light weights and aid in recruiting.  I am more than excited for the season to begin and the competition to start.  The Wabash Wrestling Program has a great mix of depth and experience to work with and develop this year.

Keep Working Hard!!!
