Networking

Dear prospective students: One of the things you'll hear again and again about Wabash is the stellar networking. No matter what you want to do, there's a Wabash alum who'd love to help you out. If you need a job, go to the networking events. If you need an internship, stop by Career Services.

One such opportunity came tonight, when I attended a "speed dating" event in Indy. Basically, I went around tables and talked to alumni for five minutes each or so. I met a variety of alumni in different fields, all from the central Indiana area.

As someone trying to find an internship in government or law, the highlights of the night for me were when I met the director of the Marion County Democratic Party and a FIJI grad that's running as a Republican in the 7th District. So if I ever decide on a side, I'll have someone to call.

In the nonpartisan area, I continue to look for internships in law firms and government. LinkedIn is becoming my best friend. 1. Find alum. 2. Network 3. Get internship. That's my motto right now. My birthday is tomorrow; I can’t imagine a better present.
