Athenians 3A State Champions!

Congratulations to Coach John Froedge and the 2008 Crawfordsville High School baseball team for winning the IHSAA 3A state championship at Victory Field in Indianapolis on Saturday, June 14th.  The state championship victory over Mishawaka Marian brought the Athenians to an amazing 32-4 record for the season.  The state championship is the first for any Athenian baseball team and Coach Froedge in his 27 years at the helm.

On a side note, three future Little Giants played in the 3A championship game Saturday afternoon.  Crawfordsville's Andrew Swart, who was 11-0 with a 1.04 ERA, and outfielder Blake Harris will both wear the scarlet and white next year.  Mishawaka Marian's leading hitter, Dan Ranschaert (.388 batting average) will also be a Little Giant.

Congratulations again to the Athenians on an amazing 2007-2008 championship season and to the Mishawaka Marian Knights for their first state championship appearance.
