Korfhagen, Steam GLSCL Regular Season Champs

Congratulations to Mike Korfhagen '09 (Cincinnati, OH - LaSalle H.S.) and the Cincinnati Steam for wrapping up the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League regular season championship Thursday night.  The Steam rolled to a league best 29-9 record with a 10-1 victory over the Licking County Settlers.  Cincinnati has earned the #1 bracket seed as the GLSCL playoffs begin on August 5th in Xenia, Ohio.  The Steam is currently ranked 7th among collegiate summer teams competing throughout the country, including teams from the Cape Cod League, Alaskan League, Valley League, and Northwoods League.

Korfhagen, a second year member of the Steam, currently leads the Steam pitching staff in saves (3), with 10 appearances and a 4.19 earned run average.

The Great Lakes League is one of the premier collegiate summer wood bat leagues comprised of college players who have yet to enter their senior year.  74 Major League players have competed in the Great Lakes League during its existence.  Wabash has been fortunate enough to have 6 players in the past 4 summers compete in the Great Lakes.

Best of luck to Mike and the Steam as they enter the Great Lakes tournament this week.  Follow Mike, the Steam, and the Great Lakes League at the links below.
