The Little Giants opened the 2009 baseball season in Birmingham, Alabama this past weekend by going 1-1 against two very good southern programs.  Saturday began with a 2-8 loss to Birmingham Southern College and ended with an 11-7 victory against Huntingdon College, which is also in Alabama.  Seniors Mike Korfhagen and Andy Weeks provided two very good starts on the mound, while junior Keegan Leckrone got the victory in game 2.  Many Little Giants provided offensive support which led to 13 runs combined for the two games.  You can read more about the weekend at http://www.wabash.edu/news/displaystory.cfm?news_ID=6757 .

The Sunday game, which was scheduled to be a single 9 inning contest against Birmingham Southern, was cancelled due to winter weather conditions.  From what we were told, the Birmingham area has not seen such conditions for nearly a decade.

The Wabash Diamondmen will hit the road again this weekend for an extended road trip to Texas during spring break week.  Wabash will open the trip Saturday night at 7:00pm against DeSales University (PA).  The game will be played in San Antonio at Trinity University.
