The Beginning of the End

So I’ve finally managed to catch up after being gone the past week for NCAC championships.  Overall, the team did a remarkable job.  The most significant part of this year’s championships though was our breaking the 1,000 point barrier.  It was quite a milestone for all of us and we were really proud to see four numbers go up for the first time.  Just this last weekend though, Adam Petro secured his position and the NCAA championships with a new team record in the 200 butterfly.  We’ll all be rooting for him when he makes his trip to the big meet in a few weeks.

With our long and demanding season over with, the rest of us get to put some of our extra time towards other endeavors, whether that be catching up and doing a little extra studying, or just preparing for spring break.  The middle of this semester has really come around quite fast.  Speaking of which, Honors Scholars weekend should be here soon with prospective students flooding the campus.  Besides some of the little assessments that students might have to take, it’s really a fun time.  Even if it’s not the ideal weekend for a high school senior, all the scholarships available are sure worth it.  I especially enjoyed getting to meet with my new coach and getting acquainted with the team:  the guys I’d be spending the next four years with.  If any other memories come to mind, I’ll be sure to write back about them.  Otherwise, I’m looking forward to heading home next week.
