Conversation Hour in Detchon

By Wassim Labaki

Every two weeks, the Department of Modern Languages at Wabash hosts a conversation hour at Detchon. Students gather to talk about anything in the foreign language they are studying. This is a great opportunity for t hem to socialize w  ith their fellow students, interact with their professors outside the classroom, and most importantly, improve their speaking skills in foreign languages. Discussions cover a broad range of topics, from everyday life to cultural and linguistic diversity. They also include economics, politics, travel experiences, and jokes.

Most of the students who attend the conversation hour are taking advanced courses in the language they are studying. However, all levels of proficiency are welcome and students taking beginner courses are especially encouraged to attend and to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom, in a warm and supportive environment including their professors and tutors.

The conversation hour takes place on the second floor of Detchon starting at 11:10 am on the following dates:

•        February 28th

•        March 21st

•        April 4th

•        April 18th

Juice, coffee, donuts, and fruit are provided. Don’t miss these opportunities to practice and improve the foreign language you are interested in!
