Mustache Racing

Dustin Beck '07 - Why mustache?

In light of the success of last year’s beard race in which the Redpack settled the matter of who could grow the biggest and best beard, the powers that be have decided that this year was the year of the mustache. It all started last track season in late May when the regulations and stipulations for this year’s mustache race were discussed and agreed upon. From there it became a waiting game with many of the future racers researching and attempting new training methods that would give them the edge when the real race started in August with the start of the CC season.

Rules and Regulations

There are only TWO rules:

1. It must be your facial hair grown from your own body

2. Absolutely NO hair growth enhancement treatments!!!

Everything else is fair game.

How it’s judged

A combined score of 3 separate categories will decide this year’s competition:

1. Overall length- this is decided by the length of any one whisker within the mustache

2. Overall thickness/fullness- this is to be determined by the members of the Redpack in a team vote.

3. Style- this category is self-explanatory… a jury of Redpack members and honorary judges comprised of mustache connoisseurs. This category will be judged on your ability to accessorize your mustache with the ultimate goal, of course, being the handlebar mustache.

The top 5 in each category will be awarded a point value corresponding to their position, which will be tallied in the end.

1st- 5points

2nd- 4points

3rd- 3 points

4th- 2 points

5th- 1 point

How to be a Champion

Get the most points and you will be the undisputed Mustache Champion of the 2006 Redpack Mustache Race. So do whatever you have to do to get that mustache to grow… massage it, pull it, finesse it, feed it, and die it, just DON’T CUT IT!!!!

You have to find a gentleman in town by the name of Claude Johnson. He'll be an EXCELLENT judge.

Best of Luck -
