A Big Thank You To....
Fall Break has come and gone. It's always tough to get the sports information staff schedule to fall in place when we have several home events on tap for the weekend. Fortunately I had some great people step in to provide a lot of assistance over the weekend --- some of it planned, some of it very spontaneous.
With that said, I'd like to offer up a big thank you to...
Andrew McGlothlen '05 and his fiance, Katie. Andrew worked for me for four years. Basically he was the assistant sports information director during his time here at Wabash. After graduation, he worked at Rockford College for a year before taking a position at MacDonald Advertising Agency in Lafayette. Andrew told me when he came back to the area if I need help to call.
Well, I took him up on his offer last weekend. With a home soccer match set for 11 a.m. and all of my regular student workers planning to be gone on break, Andrew stepped in a performed with his regular level of excellence. Katie is my real hero, though, because she rescheduled their engagement photos to allow Andrew to come to Crawfordsville to work!
I'd like to offer up a big thank you to...
Matt Abid '04 and his wife, Laura. Matt and Laura came back to watch the game and made the big mistake of visiting me in the press box. Matt looked around and asked if we were a little short on staff. He immediately stepped in to call defensive plays for the entire game, while Laura put up with all of our shenanigans in the press box. Not the way they planned to watch the game, but it was incredibly helpful.
I'd like to offer up a big thank you to...
Drew Weintraut '07. Drew popped into the press box at halftime to say hello and ended up helping refill the coolers with drinks and helped pass out material. Drew and Matt both worked for me during their time at Wabash. No, we didn't plan a sports information reunion (Chad Springer '03 and Nick Dawson '04 were also back and shared SID office stories as well), but it turned into one. Those guys are incredible. I couldn't do my job the way did unless I had their help when they were students and I certainly couldn't have gotten everything done last weekend without them helping again. Thanks all!
I'd like to offer up my final thank you to...
Nate Powell '09. If you saw the pictures of the endzones last weekend or were at the game, we all owe Nate a big thank you. Nate took over the endzone checkerboard project. He drew out the grid, mixed the paint, and supervised his crew Thursday night and Friday. PJ Smith '08 and many of the players helped throughout the two days, but Nate was the one person who saw it through from start to finish. Thanks, Nate.
