Covering the Little Giants

Wabash is fortunate to have great media coverage. Pick up the two local papers --- The Journal Review and The Paper of Montgomery County --- nearly any day and you'll likely find a story about the College. I recently interviewed new Wabash Director of Athletics Tom Bambrey '68 on the WCVL Community Focus morning show.

Even if you step outside of Montgomery County you see an interest in what's happening with the Little Giants. I'm getting ready to leave for Denison with Howard Hewitt and Jim Amidon (yes, it's time for our version of team coverage of Wabash football!). I picked up the Lafayette Journal and Courier and ready Ken Thompson's weekly report on Wabash football inside the Purdue game day piece. A Wabash story can also be found in the Indianapolis Star and from all sorts of hometown papers of just about any Wabash student-athlete.

Some of the most unique coverage of Wabash, however, comes from the College's award-winning newspaper, The Bachelor. The student reports cover the stories affecting the school from a different perspective because they either live the events they're covering or --- in the case of sports stories --- know the athletes they're writing about as fellow students and Wabash men.

Chuck Summers is the sports editor of The Bachelor. He's always been a pleasure to work with, and always provides great inside information about the teams around campus. This week he took a look at the international influence on the Wabash soccer team. It's a great read and can be found here. You don't have to be on campus to enjoy the paper. Every Thursday (except this week when technical difficulties forced a Friday publication date) The Bachelor is available online from the Wabash web site.

So check it out each Thursday and find out the latest information about your favorite college sports teams and athletes.
