Dell recently issued a recall for the batteries on a number of their laptops. To determine if your laptop battery is part of the recall, go to www.dellbatteryprogram.com.

Remove your battery and enter the numbers that are requested and it will tell you if the battery needs to returned. If this recall affects your personal computer follow the procedures to get your battery replaced. If this is a college computer, please bring the bad battery to Information Technology Services and we'll get the battery replaced for you. DO NOT use the laptop on battery if it needs to be replaced. You can continue to use the laptop with the power adapter, though.
