Tips for Taking Great Pictures

Day 2 of our week-long look at digital photography (see overview story here) provides tips for taking great digital pictures.

I enjoy taking pictures but don’t consider myself very good at it, though I do like this picture I took last fall of a parrot (click here for a larger image). Fortunately there are lots of great resources on the web filled with useful tips.

A great place to start for improving the quality of your pictures is to learn the capabilities of your camera. Most digital cameras are really easy to operate, and most take decent pictures with their default settings. But to get really great pictures you need to delve a little deeper into the manual to understand all the intricacies of your camera.

Check out the sites below for tips on taking great pictures.

I hope you find the information in these pages useful in improving your own pictures. And if you need inspiration, take a stroll through the art wing of the Fine Arts Center and look at the student photography on display.

Hmm, I have a tutorial on HDR Photography if you're interested. HDR Photography

HI,
You're right about learning the capabilities of your camera. The touch thing is to remember them when you only use your camera every few months. I know people hate them, but the instruction manual tells you everything you need to know.

Thanks Monica for your tips.

I've found another article about taking best pictures at http://www.tips7.net/T2_Get-The-Best-Shot-of-Family-Picture/
maybe it would give more information to all readers.

My HDR Photography tutorial is being moved to a new Okinawa Japan website, please update your records.

Just a heads up, I have moved my HDR photography tutorial to a whole website based on this type of photography.
