Wabash Blogs The Graduate

I know it’s been several months since the last time you all heard from me…and although you probably don’t even care about what I have been doing with my life, I will tell you anyway. A lot has changed since my last blog. I no longer work for John Hancock Financial as a Financial Advisor. Instead, I am working as a Financial Advisor for Flagstar Bank in Indianapolis. John Hancock is a great company and I learned a tremendous amount from my time there, but at this point in my life it just was not the right job for me. I disliked the crazy hours, the unstable paychecks, and the insane miles I was driving to meet with clients. At Flagstar Bank, however, I have set hours, a decent salary (with plenty of room for incentive pay), and I deal mainly with local clients (so my driving has been significantly reduced).

One thing I have noticed, at least up until this point of my working career, is that Wabash has prepared me quite well for the working world. Work seems easy compared to Wabash classes, tests, projects, etc. I would like to think that my fellow graduating classmates, and those that came before me, would agree. I typically work either from 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 11:45 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Other than work, I have been staying busy with the holidays, trying to stay in shape, and following the Wabash College Cross Country and Football team.

I want to wish the Football team good luck in the post-season and say congratulations to the Cross Country team on their outstanding season. I realize this blog is rather short, but I am typing this at work and I SHOULD PROBABLY START WORKING. For those current students at Wabash, good luck with finals.
